You Are What You Concede

East Coast artist Amanda Pantenaude will team up with West Coast artist Heather Bowling, for a first time collaboration, creating a site-specific installation made from recycled materials collected within the Santa Ana community. The artists are interested in social awareness and have created previous participatory projects in the hope to educate the public about current state of our waste stream and the pressing global issue of plastic in our oceans.

The collection of materials was organized through a series of community events, collaborating with the local organization, Back to Natives. Our sincere gratitude goes to the organizers and volunteers who have picked up the countless pieces of discarded waste from the Santiago Creek, tastefully incorporated into the work shown.

To extend their collaboration to the community and viewers, this exhibition contains hand made gifts to act as a symbol of appreciation and awareness of the oceanic environments.  Through Hands-on, DIY workspace and interactive demonstration, guest to the exhibition are encouraged to recreate. Culminated both artist goals to communicate, educate and inspire thought.
